Rapid and thorough drying of the building materials is imperative to prevent mold growth.

After extraction removes the bulk water, the remaining excess moisture will have to be removed through evaporation and dehumidification. The only way to dry wet materials is to allow the water molecules to escape from the material into the surrounding air. However, if the surrounding air is laden with high humidity, then it is unable to accept the water molecules from the wet objects.

By dehumidifying the air, its vapor pressure can be reduced and in turn the surrounding air will allow the water molecules from the wet material to escape into the air. The drier the surrounding air, the faster wet materials will release the water and quicker to dry. After water damage or a flood, DRS pumps very dry air into the environment using refrigerant or desiccant dehumidifiers. Usual relative humidity levels in a flooded building are over 90%. Our job is to drop that level to 40% or 50% to properly dry the building.
